You don’t see this band - you allow them to take you somewhere else. It has always been the beauty of Explosions in the Sky that the absence of lyrics actually creates a perspective. You are a part of this band. Your imagination, your initial thought, your paranoia, your faith are all as much of an instrument as anything else played on stage. Those thing you bring to the show concoct a plot directed by tones and beats.  This band is the background music to your next daydream, and it is happening mid-set. 

When I was a child, people would raise their hands in church. But I have never seen people reach the way they did in Asheville, and especially the way they reached in Charlotte earlier this year when I last saw Explosions. 

Energy. Energy is huge.
