Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona

As memorable as some of these landmark sites are, the drives to them have been just as satisfying for me. This entire area has completely touched me. I feel very in touch with it for some reason. It is beautiful in a way I didn’t know existing. Just a different type of beautiful. Barren but beautiful.

I did the Hoover Dam early in the morning and then did the Grand Canyon in the afternoon. One day really isn’t enough for the Grand Canyon, but is probably enough to simply get a grasp of it. Once I was leaving I was considering staying an extra day to do some trails but I don’t think I really had the warm clothing. It was very cold.

Anyways, when I left the Hoover Dam the guide told me that it was 2 hours to the West Rim and 4 to the South but that the West Rim was on an Indian reservation and was twice as much with less views. The West Rim is where the glass walkway is but I wasn’t prepared to spend $100 to see it. I drove the extra two hours to the South Rim.

There isn’t much to say about the Grand Canyon aside from that it is massive and hard to comprehend. I had the privilege of seeing the sunset at the site that I was at. Beautiful.

Walking around I found a cliff that was exposed where some people were taking pictures. After waiting on the crowd I gave the cliff a good sitting on and looking down.

(Once I get back I will sit down and update these with a few more pictures and words – I am just kind of rushing through this stuff right now and getting back on the road)
